Computer problems

Today we finished or movies and we were learning how to convert them into mp4 files. Bu the computer wouldn't respond to the films because they were too short cuts. So we had to refilm a lot of things that were too short. I found that really frustrated because we worked so hard and in the end it just couldn't be converted that it just was a really bad problem. But we got over it now and we are back on track.

Second day of filming

Today we got another day of filming our silent movies. We got way more done than last time. But it was hard to film a silent movie when it was the lunchtime of the other grades. But we got through it and now we have many clips to choose from. So our next lesson will be on editing and I really want to start but we could not. In the filming period I kept falling on the floor and that really hurt. But I got over it when I didn’t need to fall anymore. Anyway it was still really fun.

First day of filming

Today we got to film our movies and it was pretty fun, we all got to try to use the camera and we filmed a few scenes already. It was really fun but the only part that was annoying was that we had to keep doing retakes and that took a lot of time and we need one more period to finish so Mr. Smeed let us get an extra period the next class. I found it really hard with the facial expression because we had to look serious and it is pretty hard to be serious when you are surrounded by bunches of people. But in the end we did it and we are ready for the next shooting.

rehearsals

Today we got to rehearse the whole period. Our group rehearsed the movie for about 10 times. The first five times we rehearsed with no cameraman and just did the skit. The next 3 times we pretended that a white board eraser was the camera and when we thought we were ready we started to warm up with the camera but when we tried we failed and Mr. Smeed had to help us film our rehearsal. But overall we did pretty well in our rehearsals and I am very excited to begin filming.

Costumes for film

Today we changed our topic a little because we found out that we couldn’t do special affects and we wondered how a ghost would be ghost like without special effects. So then we changed our topic to a boy annoying a girl and they try different things to get rid of the boy. So today we finished half of our worksheet and I found that really fun that we got to do this today. So I can’t wait to learn how to use the cameras to record our movies

The topic day

Finding out our groups

Today we found out who we are with for the silent movies. In my group there is me, Valerie So, Phillipa. We are thinking of doing a movie about a ghost haunting a person and the savior comes in and saves the day by defeating the ghost. But that can change if we find another topic that we like. But I hope that we won’t change because I really like this topic now.

The tour of the LLAC

Today we got to have a tour of the LLAC theatre. We got to see all of the lighting equipment and learn how to use them. I really liked to see all the lights because they were all so fascinating. But we only got to see a few. The lights we saw were remote activated and the person showed us how to use it. It was fun and we also saw how a play was created. We learned many things today and I hope we can learn more about it. But I can’t wait to make our own silent movies with the rest of our classmates to show others.

A fun day

Today was really fun but my favorite parts were when we could make the human machine and do a mime and let the people guess what you are. I liked the machine because our whole class had to work together to make a machine and it really felt like it was challenging because everybody had a different idea but in the end we could fix a machine. But I didn’t know what it did! But the mime was easier because it was not too hard to show what you are. Like I was a composer and everyone guessed what I was and it made me feel good. So thanks for the fun day and I wish it is as fun next time. I learned a lot of communication skills and corporation skills through the game.

The fake emotion day

Today we had to do actions to show emotions and feeling. It was pretty fun but I liked the activity where we had to do a skit without words. I found that fun and want to do it again sometime because I like doing skits. Some people today used some facial expression to show what they were doing but others used their physical abilities to show the scene. Like some skits I couldn’t find out what they were doing but in other skits it was much easier to do understand what they were trying to do. It was pretty fun today but I wish we didn’t have to pause when Mr. Smeed asked for a volunteer. It was really boring and wish that won’t happen again.

The actors of silent movies

Today we watched actors that don’t use words but actions to show what they were saying. I felt that it was a bit boring and found the movies a little silly but I thought Mr. Bean was funny. But my favorite part was when we got to play slow motion assassin. It was so fun we got to pretend to kill people and die ourselves. In the game I found people being a little competitive and going faster than the others in the game and just killing everybody. But the game was fun still even though I died in every time we played the game. I found today pretty good and wish we can play that game again because I would enjoy it very much.

The second drama journal

Today we played a very confusing game we had to pass around two objects in a circle. We never succeeded we kept on failing this game. I found it pretty hard because it is easy to get messed up by confusion. But the pattern game was much easier because we had a plan to not fail. But in the game I had to keep on saying yellow cow. But I really liked the games today and I found it interesting and fun and I wish we would do it again. But I found that it was a matter of competition in the volleyball game and Mr. Smeed was being bias and he kept helping the girls so in the end the girls won and I found that unfair.

My first Drama journal

Drama was fun today we played this game where everyone had to do an action when saying the name. It was pretty fun. But my favorite game was that staring game that when you make eye contact you die that was really fun. I can’t wait for the next drama class.
